Magnolia Boutique

I came across this boutique on Facebook a few weeks ago and became intrigued with it. The owner is an Indianapolis mom! I love that she is local and wish this was a brick and mortar store, not just an online boutique. Check it out, they have some cute items!

Obsessed

I saw this Mara Hoffman jumpsuit in my People Stylewatch magazine a few weeks ago and I became obsessed with it. I scoured the internet and couldn't find it! I knew I couldn't afford it,  but I still wanted to see more pictures of it. Finally, it was released in the new arrivals and it's adorable! I'm not sure how I feel about the length of the pants though.

It's not in my budget, but I did start to wonder if I could make something similar. I found 2 patterns that I could combine to create the same look. New Look 6211 is a dress pattern, but you could just use the bodice with cutout sides and McCalls 6515 for the pants.

Silver Flats

Last week I posted this picture to show you my new vest that I bought for a PENNY, but everyone was more interested in my shoes. Mine are actually sold out, but here are some similar pairs.

Weekend

We had such a nice warm weekend here in Indy! Saturday was Dan's birthday and he said it's definitely never been 72 degrees on his birthday before. We enjoyed taking walks, going to the park and playing outside with Roman. I can't wait for the weather to stay warm. This was such as tease because we are getting snow again on Wednesday.

To celebrate Dan's birthday we went to Black Acre for their anniversary party, then to Bluebeard for cocktails and to Rook for dinner.

Bluebeard is our favorite. We go there almost every date night. I recently fell in love with a cocktail there called the Galapagos. It's a spicy tequila drink with cucumber and lime. It's delicious! Dan always gets the Pendennis club, which is basically just an Old Fashioned.

We went to Rook in their new location, which is just a few blocks down from where it used to be in Fletcher Place. If you haven't been there, definitely try it out!

Friday Favorites

I think I want some overalls. The mom side of me thinks they would be very practical for the days I am hone with Roman. I like this pair from Old Navy. They are on sale for $27. I checked and they aren't available in any Indianapolis stores. I'd like to try them on to see if I can pull them off.

This white off the shoulder top from Shop Sosie looks exactly like the Tibi one, but for a fraction of the price.

Wish list rainbow clutch! Milly.

I tried on these Sam Edelman lace up heels a few weeks ago and fell in love with them. They are so comfortable! They are on my birthday wish list.

I just found this BB Dakota striped cutout back mini dress on sale at Saks off Fifth. $49. Good deal!

More Gingham

I posted about this navy gingham dress a few weeks ago and I had a feeling my favorite bloggers would be wearing it soon. In the last week, both Atlantic Pacific and Gal Meets Glam have posted gingham dresses and tops.

I love both dresses and am considering making a sleeveless version. Gingham is a timeless fabric and easy to find in many colors at most fabric stores.

Winter Work Wear

Winter is the hardest season to dress professionally for me. It's cold, and I just want to wear jeans and a sweatshirt. I generally prefer dresses and skirts over dress pants throughout the year and that includes winter. My biggest challenge is shoes. Who wants to wear heels in the snow? Boots are tough to pull off with dress pants too. My go-to option is ankle boots with a dress or skirt.

Some inspiration.

I love this sweater/skirt combo! It looks nice and warm, but equally chic. I also really like the jumper and top underneath.  I generally wear the 3rd option, which is a wool skirt with different top options, tights and boots.

What a Weekend

On Saturday we took Roman to get his first hair cut. We had been trying to let it grow out, but it was looking like a mullet and it needed cut. He was a champ sitting in the tractor for the cut.

After the haircut we went to the Dancing Donut for donuts.

The Fruity Pebbles donut was awesome!

Opening Valentines

On Sunday we went to Milktooth for a Valentines brunch. Milktooth is a newer restaurant in Fletcher Place. In order to not wait all day, you must go pretty early. It gets packed in the small restaurant with everyone waiting. Roman was so good during our wait!

I had the red velvet waffle.

I have been working on a chambray criss-cross back dress for my friend's new baby. I'll post more when it's finished.

Hope you all had a nice Valentine's weekend too!

Friday Favorites

Zulily is having a sale on Toms. I bought a pair for Roman. I didn't see the light blue pair until after I checked out, but they are super cute! The sale includes women and men too, but is only going on until Feb. 16th. Hurry up! Have you heard of Accessory Concierge? I stumbled upon the site today and really like some of their items! The tassel necklaces and earrings are all in the sale section. I also found this simple but cute for spring top at Nordstrom. I like the slide slit and it's only $25.00. I think I just sold myself on it.

Also, the Kate Spade surprise sale is going on right now. I've bought a few things from these sales before and if you notice it does say that the merchandise is from the outlet store. I have found the quality to be excellent even though it may have never been sold in regular stores. I actually have this wallet in red and wish more than anything I would have waited for spring colors. I'd much rather have one of these bright colors!

My favorites from the sale. Sales ends tonight!

Easy Spinach Artichoke Dip

I haven't made this in a few years, but I could eat the entire bowl myself. I made it this past Sunday for the Super Bowl. This is a really easy recipe, but the key is finding frozen creamed spinach. Not all groceries carry it. Other than that, it's only 4 ingredients and a microwave.

Easy Spinach Artichoke Dip
Ingredients:
2 boxes of frozen creamed spinach
1/2 cup sour cream
1 can drained artichokes (chop them)
3/4 cup shredded cheese (Italian blend is good)

Directions:
Thaw spinach according to directions on package. Once spinach is thawed, combine remaining ingredients and stir. Microwave for 15 minutes. Sprinkle grated parmesan and red pepper flakes on top (optional)

You can also bake this dip for a better presentation in a nice baking dish.

Enjoy!

Winter Swimsuits

Over the weekend we took Roman to an indoor water park. I was trying to pack and could only find one swimsuit that fit well. Unless you are going on spring break, February isn't the time most people shop for swimwear, but I have found some really cute suits lately if you are ready for it.

I think I will probably stick to one-piece swimwear from now on and thankfully they are back in style with so many great styles to choose from. I am in love with the first suit, but it's a little out of my price range. Let me know if you see one similar for less. I found some really cute options at Target! I love the bottom center one! I am also partial to leopard swimwear and the pink scalloped suit is a great Marysia Swim knockoff.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! This is an exciting week ahead of us. Super bowl Sunday, Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), and Valentine's Day. So many little holidays and reasons to celebrate over the next week or so. Most of these just revolve around food and that is just fine with me! We are having a few people over for the super bowl and I'm planning to make a few appetizers. I'll share my favorites next week. No real plans for fat Tuesday except loading up on sweets before I give them up for lent. I'm hoping to do something special for Valentine's day next weekend too. Anyone else celebrating this week?

Some of my current favorites I'd like to add to my closet.

Isn't this blue and green top from Kingdom and State pretty? I'd love it for work and even going out this spring! I also fell in love with this ring from my friend Erin's online boutique, Feel Good Collections. I've been wanting a new watch and I think I want this gold face Timex one for my birthday. Dan has the silver faced one. I like that you can switch the bands to match or for different seasons. I have no reason to wear these, but I love these red Express fringe and tassel heels. I have seen them in other colors too. Maybe a nude pair for the summer would be cute. Also, can you believe this lace up neck top is back in style? I definitely wore this style in high school. Top is from Urban Outfitters.

Blue Inspiration

It seems like everyone is dreaming of spring and warmer temperatures. I can't bring myself to buy anything yet since it will be months before I could wear it, but it is fun to browse. I feel drawn to shades of blue and chambray. Spring break anyone?
